Venture Capital Associate, Palo Alto / Remote 

 

Agroecology Capital, a high technology venture capital firm, has an immediate opening for an Associate-level role.


Agroecology Capital is a venture capital firm focused on agroecological Land and AgTech investments. The firm backs startups of all stages.
 

The Associate will be responsible for: (i) team and cross-functional operations; (ii) deal execution assistance for our portfolio companies including capital raising and strategic transactions; and (iii) market analysis.
 

The primary function of this role is to provide real and sustained value to: (i) immediate peers; and (ii) the Firm’s portfolio companies.

 

Responsibilities
 

  • Provide support to the partners in all aspects of potential and active investments

  • Generate high-quality deal flow by proactively identifying investment opportunities through outbound calling in pre-defined technology segments and newly discovered segments

  • Manage deal prospects from the first conversation through term sheet to deal close, coordinating resources to assess and win the deal

  • Lead and coordinate deal analysis, financial modeling, and due diligence Form hypotheses on investment opportunities based on both key facts and market intuition

  • Create clear and concise investment memos to the investment committee

  • Continually monitor and investigate macro and micro industry trends to recommend new sectors of technology for evaluation and potential investment Requirements

 

Ideal Candidate Background
 

  • Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree from a top undergraduate program with superior academic performance (preferably in engineering or computer science)

  • Two years of experience in consulting or investment banking

  • Interest in working with early-stage technology companies

  • Ability to interpret data and provide relevant conclusions/recommendations

  • Writing skills
